10/22/2003 "Torture by the State"

I just opened the response to my inquiry about the bill AB197, introduced by the terrorist Rep. Scott Suder (R-Abbottsford) that permits the bear "hunters" to "train" their dogs on captive wildlife - bobcats, foxes and coyotes. Since he managed amend the Wisconsin Constitution to make hunting, trapping and fishing a constitutional right, he has moved on to expand state sanctioned torture of animals.

Vice President Cheney said in a C-Span televised speech at the Heritage Foundation, that Kaye brought a video back from Iraq, of Saddam H watching his two Doberman eating, while he was alive, a "disloyal" general.

And in Wisconsin: a bill just out of Assembly Committee on Natural Resources, to allow bear hunters to "train" their dogs packs on captive wild animals -just like Saddam and his dogs, i.e. TEAR THEM APART while they are alive, screaming and trying to fight back.

I saw a video of these filthy men doing this to a panther. They bought it from a zoo. The terrified panther could see, hear and smell the dogs. It knew. It cowered in a cage refusing to come out till they poked it with cattle prods. Shaking, it stepped out the door and immediately about 15 dogs were on it and tore it apart while it screamed. Training my ass. The boys were having a good time.

Why doesn't the media televise this "training" instead of ignoring what our legislature does in our names. We have savages roaming these Wisconsin woods and it is not the animals. These "trainers" should be shipped to Iraq where they can pick on prey like themselves instead of "captive" animals.

In her response to me, Senator Robson said, "as you know" they already train them (the dogs) on captive black bears, rabbits and raccoons. Shit no, I didn't know. Who can imagine this level of cruelty?

And as a person who had her cats tortured, and killed by my next door neighbors (avid hunters) and 2 stole from my new home after I moved and the legal system gave them my new address; I am twisted inside as I believe the kind of people who do this, steal our pets to use in this way.

The legal system does not protect us. It protects them, as the system is made from their kind.

Urgent Alert- Please contact your WI state representatives today to oppose the "Training Expansion Act." (09/25/2003) Or you can just watch this pass like the killing of our state symbol, the mourning dove, at the Wis Leg Website.

Governor Doyle better veto this piece of c--- and we better repeal the rest of this - this "Training Act"

Hi;

Not sure if you got my last email, my computer just shut down unexpectingly.

There are three main reasons the Pet Facilities Law was 'indefinitley postponed' on January 8, 2004. Scott Suder, Jerry Petrowski, and Steve Kestell. They all agree there is a problem, they agree humane treatment is needed, yet they declined numerous inviations by the bill's sponsors to creat amendments to make it 'acceptable' to them. They to-date have also not responded to the invitations to re-create a Pet Facilities Law.

My opinion: let's concentrate on these districts (69, 86, & 27)...to let their communities know who is to blame for the bill not passing! Let's make them have to deal with the consequences of people unhappy with their decisions.

Thanks!!!

URGENT ALERT -- TRAINING EXPANSION ACT

At 10am on Thursday, February 12, there will be a public hearing in the
Senate Committee on Environment and Natural Resources concerning
AB197, the Training Expansion Act. This incredibly cruel legislation will
allow for an expansion of the types of captive animals that are used as
“live bait” in training exercises for hunting dogs. This law would allow
individuals to train their dogs to hunt on captive bobcats, coyotes, and
foxes. The bill has already passed the Assembly! We urgently need to
stop it from going any further in the Senate. Please take the following
action AGAINST AB197, the Training Expansion Act:

OnWednesday, call, fax, or email the members of the Senate
Committee on Environment and Natural Resources and respectfully
voice your opposition to this cruel piece of legislation. The
members’ contact information is as follows (Madison
activists—note that Sen. Fred Risser is on this committee!):
A. Senator Neal Kedzie (R), Chair: 1-800-578-1457 (phone); (608)
282-3551 (fax); sen.kedzie@legis.state.wi.us
B. Senator Cathy Stepp (R), Vice Chair: (608) 266-1832 (phone);
(608) 267-6793 (fax); sen.stepp@legis.state.wi.us
C. Senator Dave Zien (R): (608) 266-7511 (phone); (608) 267-
6794 (fax); sen.zien@legis.state.wi.us

Signthe online petition against the bill! An activist in northern
Wisconsin has already started an online petition drive and we need
more signatures! We will take the list to the hearing to show the
large number of individuals who oppose this legislation. Access the
petition online at www.thepetitionsite.com/takeaction/553546685

Attendthe hearing! We need to show that there are Wisconsin
citizens who care enough to come out and oppose this bill. Come to
the hearing and show your opposition by simply being present or by
speaking out against the bill. The hearing will occur at the State
Capitol, 330 Southwest. Please email or call the Alliance for Animals (257-
6333) if you can attend.

WE GET ONE MORE CHANCE TO MAKE WISCONSIN A BETTER PLACE
FOR ANIMALS IN COMMERCIAL PET BREEDING FACILITIES!

If you take only a few actions this year for animals, make this one of them.
This
legislation is extremely important and will prevent an incalculable amount of
suffering experienced by the many animals who are confined in deplorable
conditions in WI breeding industry facilities.

CRITICAL ACTION IS NEEDED before Feb 16th on the PET FACILITIES LAW!

The Joint Finance Committee has scheduled the PFL for a vote on FEB 17. We
desperately need your calls, emails and faxes immediately so that this bill can
make it through this committee and to the floor for debate and a final vote by
March 11, the date the session closes.

For further information about the Pet Facilities Law and how it would prevent
the
puppy mill problem in this state, please visit the following website:
http://www.egressetch.com/WisconsinPFL/

Further, an investigative reporter at Fox 6 News in Milwaukee recently did a
provocative and supportive story on the PFL and showed undercover footage of
the Pretty Penny Kennels in Sheboygan County. You can access this story on
www.fox6milwaukee.com (in the search box, type "Puppies Left Out in the Cold").

In your calls, emails and faxes to the Joint Finance Committee members, politely
and respectfully state the following:
Thank them for taking this bill (AB536) up. Voice your SUPPORT for the
legislation, and state that you look forward to their favorable vote on the bill
in its
entirety, including the amendments already approved by the Agriculture
Committee.
