"Full Moon Facts"
The Harvest Moon last week and the Hunter's moon four weeks from now are different than the usual full moons in that before and after the Autumnal Equinox, (this year Sept 22 at noon) we see the full moon for a series of nights, not just one night.
Before electricity, this was really important as people worked by the light of the moon, all night bringing in the harvest and getting ready for winter.
Why this happens has something to do with the way it is traveling in orbit. I think it's that the moon is riding close to the equator but I'm not sure.
